The Wisteria design is one of Tiffany’s most popular designs. This design became quite popular because the finished lamp actually looks like a Wisteria tree. The lamp fixture resembles the trunk while the lamp shade looks like the blossoming limbs. Detail of branches and limbs hanging down were added to add great detail to the shade. The use of vibrant color and irregular edges draw a second or third look to see if it is indeed a lamp shade. With their resurgence of popularity, it is very difficult to find an authentic Tiffany lamp. Some original Tiffany lamps have commanded prices in the millions of dollars for a single lamp.
The wide variety of these styles of lamps is virtually endless. You can choose from tall floor lamps which can match a small table lamp or just standalone without additional accents. You can also choose from a variety of ceiling lamps that also have that special Tiffany touch. Louis Comfort Tiffany did not begin his career in stained glass lighting. Long before Tiffany lamps were gracing the homes of people throughout the world caught up in the ” Art Nouveau” craze, the genius first tackled art, interior design, and even helping his father with his world famous jewelry store. A profound and deep respect and admiration for Nature dominated Louis Comfort. It affected his art, his interior design, and ultimately helped influence all facets of Tiffany Lighting including lampshade design and layout.
Lava lamps are quite a unique type of lighting, usually consisting of a cone-shaped base that houses a light bulb. This light bulb heats up a glass teardrop-shaped container which sits above it. Inside the container is the ’lava’, which usually consists of paraffin wax, mineral oil, and carbon tetrachloride. When the lava is heated, it floats up in the alcohol solution, emulating lava. When the light is shut off, the lava will sink back to the bottom and harden until the next use.
