Decide whether you will use and decorate existing shades or whether you will make new ones from scratch. If making new ones, work out what size of shade you need by measuring the existing shades or by experimenting with creating paper shades of various standard size shades to see which size would work well. Look for frames in the right size in your local craft shop or purchase online. Decide what you will use to cover your lamp shades. This might be something simple like wallpaper or wrapping paper in an interesting design or a fabric you love. You may also decide to cover your shades in patterned or plain fabric. Remember that plain lamp shades cam always be embellished.
You probably don’t want a chandelier in every room in the house. Pick the room where it would work best, and they choose other types of lighting for other rooms. Chandeliers are more ornamental. And for a great look many people go with a crystal chandelier because it immediately grabs your attention when you walk in a room. But again, match the crystals to the surroundings. What you want to avoid is using chandeliers in smaller rooms. Crystal chandeliers are known to throw light directly on the face and using big lights could end up creating shadows all over the room. Your family as well as visitors could find the situation disturbing.
