Geometric Tiffany lamps were designed using glass cut into basic shapes such as squares, triangles, diamonds, and rectangles and used only one or two colors. The geometric designs included the Lotus Leaf, Acorn, Spider web, Parasol, Nautilus Seashell, Indian Basket and Turtleback designs. These designs are very symmetrical and were some of Tiffany’s first work. Although a symmetrical design may seem a little boring, Tiffany’s use of color and shapes made the lamps come alive.
The lamp consists of a standard bulb when turned on heats the tall transparent bottle containing small amount water and a mixture of wax. Although other things can also be added such as carbon tetrachloride but the standard lava lamp must have water and wax in the transparent bottle. The wax is not that thick but a little dense as compared with water at room temperature but gets even less dense under warm temperatures as it is more expandable and elastic than water when heated together.
One big reason these rawhide lamp shades are so popular for Spanish style chandeliers and other home lighting fixtures is because of the many choices available. When using a specific color pattern, you have the option of choosing a pig-skin shade in one of many colors to match, or the natural warm color of rawhide. It doesn’t matter which kind of rawhide or leather chandelier lamp shades you need, you will no doubt be happy with the style you can accomplish with these shades. The fact that these leather shades are fashioned by hand, gives them a certain uniqueness you won’t find in factory made lamp shades.
If you want to add a touch of class and sophistication to any setting, then you may want one. Tiffany lamps are made with exquisite pieces of stained glass which are soldered together to form beautiful scenes or conceptual motifs. These beautiful lamps generally have a solid metal base which is also delicately decorated. The designer of these beautiful creations is none other than Louis Comfort Tiffany. The first Tiffany lamp to be made was in New York in 1899. He made it in his studio that was devoted specifically to working with just lamps.
